In memorial: David Poole

Dunkirk and Old Lenton Community Association sadly wishes to mark
the passing of long-term supporter and local resident; David Poole
on 20th October 2025.

David was a huge character within the Association He was for many
years our local Councillor, then moving on to become an Alderman.
During this time, he sat on the Trustee Board, ensuring our voice was
heard in Council Meetings. He then became Chair of the Association,
guiding us to sustain and improve the Community Centre. His wife,
Ruth also was a committee member for many years. They both
played a huge role in activities and fund-raising events. We have lost
track of how many second-hand book stalls David ran over the
years!!

His was a life well-lived, achieving success, laughing often and loved
by many.

David will be greatly missed by the Association and his many friends
at the Centre. Our love and thoughts go to Ruth and the family at this
sad time.

Dunkirk Community Centre invites you to become a member of the DOLCA 200 Club. If you are over 16 years of age and keen to support the on-going work of the Centre we would love your support for our new venture. For a monthly £5 contribution you will be entered into a weekly draw to win £50. On 1st June the prize will be £500 and on the 1st December £1000 will be won by supporters of the Community Centre. To join simply complete the The DOLCA 200 Lottery form and set up a monthly Standing Order starting on 1st September 2025. E-mail to: [email protected] or return to the office. You will be allocated a unique number which will be entered into every draw for as long as we receive your Standing Order. Winning numbers will be displayed on our website each Friday by 12 noon.
